Enhance Your Robot Development Using Interactive Simulation

Wednesday, May 23, 2018

4:30 pm – 5:15 pm

The complexity of developing robots and their control systems has limited innovation and become a gating factor in new robotic developments. In this session, James English, CTO of Energid Technologies, will describe how real-time digital simulation can be used to address this complexity, to speed and simplify the development of advanced robots. Interactive simulation allows anyone to see behaviors in real time, make fast changes, and move robots using the same control interfaces and software as will be deployed with hardware. This is possible using fast collision computation, dynamic simulation, and sensor modeling. Testing robotic applications with these techniques before taking on the burden of deploying hardware saves time and cost for those seeking to solve new, hard problems. This talk will cover the strengths and weaknesses of popular robot simulation software and address new breakthroughs in simulation quality and speed. The business benefits of robotic simulation tools, such as faster time-to-market, the development of novel applications, and the possibility of entering new markets, will also be discussed.
