Rasmussen’s drive to advance prosthetics garnered attention in the robotic community. Ras Labs created the Tactile Fingertip for robotic gripper EOAT – remarkably like the human fingertip to bring a sense of touch to robots – and has entered the humanoid robot space with a focus on humanoid hands. Rasmussen is a recognized leader in the field of electroactive polymers (EAPs) with patents, publications including books (publisher: Springer-Verlag), presentations at global conferences, including robotics meetings and consortia, EAP Actuators & Devices conferences, and multi-media communication, including NASA TV. Corporate experience: Johnson & Johnson and Union Carbide/Dow. PhD, Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry specialty, Virginia Tech; MS, Biology, Biophysics specialty, Purdue University; Chemistry and Biochemistry, double major Bachelors of Science, Virginia Tech.
