Westwood Robotics debuting next-gen THEMIS humanoid

Westwood Robotics, a provider of humanoid robots and proprioceptive actuators, will be exhibiting at the Robotics Summit & Expo, the premier event for robotics developers. The event takes place April 30-May 1, 2025 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
Attendees can visit Booth 650 to experience live demonstrations of THEMIS, the full-size, general-purpose humanoid robot showcasing advanced dynamic locomotion and precise manipulation for research and industrial applications, as well as BRUCE, a kid-sized open-platform humanoid designed for hands-on STEAM education and research.
“Our team is excited to demonstrate how THEMIS and BRUCE utilize advanced model-based controllers enhanced with reinforcement learning for realtime adaptation,” said Xiaoguang Zhang, CEO & Founder of Westwood Robotics. “Our robots feature our proprietary BEAR series proprioceptive actuators, integrated vision and force sensors, long-lasting batteries, and liquid-cooled thermal management—delivering the agility, precision, and robustness that modern research and industrial applications require.”
THEMIS will be seen mingling with attendees in various locations, including the registration desk. She will also help serve coffee, circulating among guests with a tray of paper cups, stir sticks, napkins and more. THEMIS will be serving coffee at the Robot Coffee Corner outside Room 258ABC in between morning keynotes.
The Robotics Summit & Expo is the leading event for commercial robotics developers, bringing together 5,000+ industry professionals to explore the latest advancements in motion control, AI, sensing, software development, humanoids, and more. With 200+ exhibitors, 50+ educational sessions, 5 keynotes, and hands-on demos, it’s the go-to event for those shaping the future of robotics.
The Robotics Summit also offers numerous networking opportunities, a Career Fair, a robotics development challenge, the RBR50 Robotics Innovation Awards Gala, and much more.

About Westwood Robotics
Westwood Robotics, founded in 2018 by previous core members of UCLA’s Robotics & Mechanisms Laboratory (RoMeLa), is a leader in humanoid robotics and proprioceptive actuator development. Our flagship platforms—THEMIS, a full-size, general-purpose humanoid, and BRUCE, a kid-sized, open-platform humanoid for STEAM education and academic research—are powered by our proprietary BEAR series actuators, integrated sensing, long-lasting batteries, and advanced control algorithms augmented with reinforcement learning.
Our mission is to seamlessly integrate humanoid robots into industrial applications, amplifying human capabilities and tackling dangerous or tedious tasks worldwide. Since launching BRUCE — now adopted by multiple universities, research labs, and leading companies — and unveiling THEMIS at ICRA 2024, we’ve forged strong partnerships across academia and industry, driving the next generation of practical, high-performance robotics.
