James is a founder and Chief Technology Officer for Genesis Robotics. He holds over 70 patents, and his inventions cover a diverse range from vehicle suspension design to human kinetics and robotics. Klassen’s products include the first snowboard to prove that a flat base with no fins was the most effective design to win races (1985). His other inventions include the Virtual Pivot Point (VPP) mountain bike suspension which has won more downhill races than any bike on the market. Klassen and his team of 60 technicians, engineers, and machinists have now developed the LiveDrive motor and several torque amplification technologies which offer a step change in safety, performance, and motion control simplicity for robotics. Klassen’s main goal in robotics is to create actuation technologies that allow safe, life-like motion for increased productivity, human interactivity, and assistive devices for the disabled.
