James Marshall is Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Opteran Technologies, which is focused on artificial bio-inspired brain development. The company’s first product re-engineered the brain of a Honeybee onto silicon to enable autonomy in machines.
Prior to this, Marshall held academic positions at the University of Sheffield and the University of Bristol, where he served as a Professor of Theoretical and Computational Biology and Senior Lecturer, respectively. He also worked as a Research Associate at Imperial College London and as a Research Development Software Engineer at Sony.
