Sebastian Castro is an incoming Applied Scientist at The AI Institute. Previously, he was a Senior Robotics Engineer at PickNik Robotics, working on the MoveIt Pro developer platform for robot behavior using ROS. In the past, Sebastian has managed educational content for robotics student competitions using MATLAB and Simulink, stood up a home service robotics software framework at MIT CSAIL, and participated in behavior development and field testing for autonomous truck unloading with the Boston Dynamics Stretch robot. Sebastian holds a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, where he researched control of modular robots from high-level task specifications. Sebastian runs a personal blog (roboticseabass.com) where he shares his expertise in task and motion planning, autonomous behavior, systems, and software development to make knowledge accessible to all.
